The Denison track and field team sent six athletes to the All-Great Lakes Elite Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Thursday, May 19 at George Gauthier Track in Delaware, Ohio.
On the women's side, freshman Ajai Brooks, and sophomores Arlesha Cospy and Hannah Hall combined for four top-4 finishes. Brooks led the way with a pair of victories in the 100 and 200-meter events. Brooks tied her school-record time of 12.07 in the 100-meter dash on Thursday, while also clocking in at 24.80 in the 200.
Cospy finished runner-up in the discus with a final toss of 142'1". Baldwin Wallace's Kasey Clouse won the event with a final mark of 148'9". With that performance, Clouse ranks 18th in the country, while Cospy's PR mark of 149'10" at the 2016 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship meet has her ranked 14th nationally. In the high jump, Hall took fourth after successfully clearing 5'2.50".
In men's action, freshman David Carter placed second in the triple jump with a combined leap of 47'1.75". Rose-Hulman's Trey Sykes won the event with a final mark of 48'3.5" which moved him into fourth on the national list this year. Carter currently sits 20th in Division III in the triple jump thanks to his PR performance at the conference meet (47'3").
Senior Bryan Fowler was third in the javelin with a heave 177'7". In the 110 hurdles, freshman Isaac Reed posted a personal-best time after crossing the finish line in 16.17. Reed's PR performance landed him in seventh place overall.
