Denison basketball to "Play 4 Allison and Kay"
The Denison University basketball teams will be hosting a WBCA "Pink Out" on Wednesday (Feb. 15) to promote breast cancer awareness.
The doubleheader will open with a women’s game against Oberlin College at 6 p.m. Fresh off an exciting overtime win at Allegheny, the DU women look to secure one of the top four spots in the North Coast Athletic Conference standings and a home game in the quarterfinals of the NCAC Tournament.
The second half of the doubleheader pits the men’s squad against rival Kenyon College. The men, who are also battling for a home game in the opening round of the NCAC Tournament, are winners of five of its last six games, and will be playing its final regular season home game of the year.
A donation box will be available at the entrance to Livingston Gymnasium, with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the Allison Knobel Sitton Scholarship Fund, and the other half to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. All fans in attendance are encouraged to wear pink to show their support. A limited number of pink t-shirts will be available to individuals who donate $5 or more.
The Breast Cancer Research initiative is sponsored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and is a global, unified effort for the association to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The WBCA began its research in 2007 and more than 120 schools have unified to make this initiative a success.
