Lester Black helped lead Denison to a 5-0 football record in 1912 and a 15-0 basketball record in 1912-13 as part of his spectacular athletic career. Records show that he single-handedly outscored Denison opponents in a number of basketball games, and that he played tackle and did all the punting and place-kicking for Big Red football teams. He also was a varsity baseball standout and participated in track whenever the baseball schedule permitted. He earned All-Ohio honors in both football and basketball.
