Eric Calhoun played on the 1921, 1922 and 1923 Big Red grid teams as a center, captaining the squad in 1923 and earning All-Ohio honors in 1922 and 1923. He was a member of the 1922-23 and 1923-24 basketball teams and played baseball for the Big Red in 1923.
Eric played six games on the offensive line with the Dayton Triangles in 1926. Calhoun was a member of the Greater Cleveland Coaches Association and spent many years as a football official in Northeastern Ohio. He took over the starting center job on the DU football team from Dave Reese, who was later named commissioner of the Mid-American Conference, giving Denison two consecutive All-Ohio players at that position.
