Casey Chroust was a four-year letter winner and a two time Academic All-American for the Big Red men’s basketball team between 1993-97. He scored 1,574 career points and is the fifth leading scorer in Denison history.
In his senior season he averaged a team-best 19.3 ppg and led the team to a 19-7 record and a runner-up finish in the North Coast Athletic Conference. That year, Denison qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history. He was voted the NCAC’s Player of the Year that season and earned his fourth consecutive All-NCAC award.
Chroust became the 19th Denison athlete to be awarded a Postgraduate Scholarship from the NCAA and, in 1997, he was one of five students selected for the prestigious Presidential Medal, the highest honor bestowed at Denison’s annual awards convocation.
