John Kenney was a four-year letterwinner in baseball for the Big Red. Over the course of his career he played in 102 consecutive games and hit .303 at the plate. A team captain and most valuable player in 1982. In 1982 amateur baseball draft the Pittsburgh Pirates selected John in the 23rd round. He played for the Bradenton Pirates of the Gulf Coast League following the spring.
