James Kirk was a four-year letterwinner in track and field in 1966-69. He served as the team captain during his junior and senior year and was named the team’s Most Improved Runner in 1967 and 1968.
Kirk previously held Denison individual records in four events and was part of four former Big Red relay records. He held the indoor record in the 800 for 30 years until it was broken in 1998.
Kirk was a dean’s list student and is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa the senior leadership honorary, and was a junior advisor and head resident.
