Bill Wehr played on Denison’s undefeated football teams of 1947 and 1948, co-captaining the latter squad. A center and linebacker, he was Denison’s second gridder in history to receive first-team Associated Press Little All-American recognition.
Wehr was drafted in the 18th round of the 1949 NFL draft by the Detroit Lions. He later served as an assistant coach, under fellow Denison alum Woody Hayes, on the 1950 Miami University football team that captured the MAC Championship and posted a victory in the Salad Bowl.
