Rix Yard served as athletic director and chairman of the department of men’s physical education from 1953 until 1963, and was the Big Red lacrosse coach from 1954 until 1963. A native of Lakewood, N.J., he was also honored as national lacrosse coach of the year in 1963, and in the same year was chosen as an assistant coach for the North-South lacrosse all-star game.
