In 2011-12, Rick Beck begins his 11th year as a staff member in Denison's Physical Education Center and Mitchell Recreation and Athletics Center. This is his sixth year as the Assistant Equipment Specialist for the Big Red. Beck's current responsibilities include field lining for varsity athletics and field set up, as well as facilities supervision, assisting with event set-up and event management, supervision of student employees and the facilities laundry operation.

Beck currently works full-time as a paramedic/firefighter for the West Licking Joint Fire District in Pataskala. He has been with the department for 20 years. Prior to working for the West Licking District, Beck served as a volunteer for the Granville Fire Department for 13 years and spent six of those as chief. In addition, Beck worked at the Granville Owens Corning Tech Center for 18 years as a senior technician in the roofing lab. During his time at Owens, he also served on the tech center's Fire Brigade.

Growing up in nearby Newark, Beck graduated from Newark Catholic High School. An avid athlete, Beck played football, basketball and baseball for the Green Wave. Considered by many as a handyman, he enjoys hobbies such as finish carpentry, hunting and fishing.

Beck has two daughters, Lindsay and Katalin, and resides in Granville with his wife, Rita.
