In 2011-12 Adam Stewart will begin his fourth season as the assistant men's lacrosse coach at Denison University. A 2003 Denison graduate, Stewart returned in 2009 to the program for which he played and served as a student-coach from 2000-2003.
Since returning as head coach Mike Caravana's top assistant the Big Red have posted a record of 35-11. In 2009 the Big Red captured the program's 10th North Coast Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament before falling to eventual national runner-up, Gettysburg. This past season the Big Red won aother NCAC Championship (their 11th) and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before falling in overtime to second-ranked and undefeated, RIT in Rochester, N.Y.
A native of Grandview Heights, Ohio, Stewart comes to Denison
after serving as the Director of Community Relations and Assistant
Athletic Director his alma mater, The Wellington School, in Upper
Arlington, Ohio.
While at Denison, Stewart spent two years as a member of the Big
Red lacrosse team and was a part of the 2001 NCAA Division III
semifinal team. Following his sophomore season, injuries cut
his playing career short and Stewart was offered the opportunity to
join Caravana on the sidelines as a student coach. A role he
filled until his graduation in 2003.
In addition to his lacrosse duties, Stewart serves as the athletic department liason to the Varsity D Association.
Adam and his wife, Anne, currently reside in New Albany.
