Three named to All-NCAC baseball squad

Denison senior pitcher Tyler Vaske was named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference first team, highlighting a list of three members of the Big Red baseball team to join the post-season list of honorees.

Tyler Vaske was the Big Red's ace all season and he posted a career-best 2.93 ERA in 61.1 innings pitched.  He pitched DU to conference wins over Ohio Wesleyan and Wabash and allowed just five earned runs in three starts against regionally ranked opponents Marietta, Heidelberg and DePauw.

Tyler Vaske ended the year with 58 strike outs in 61.1 innings.  He walked 18 and the opposition was batting just .249 against him.

His twin brother, Justin Vaske, was named to the All-NCAC honorable mention list along with senior second baseman Evan Nicholson.  Justin Vaske hit .309 while leading the team with 22 RBI and a .452 on-base percentage.

Nicholson made 36 starts and led the team in batting with a .343 average.  His 47 hits was tops on the team and he also stole 17 bases while scoring 26 runs.
