Baird honored at Scholar-Athlete Banquet
Denison University senior Scott Baird was one of the seven college athletes honored at the 51st annual National Football Foundation and college Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Awards Banquet, which was held on Feb. 6 at the Buckeye Hall of Fame Cafe in Columbus, Ohio. Colleges represented at the banquet included Ohio State, Denison, Ohio Wesleyan, Otterbein, Capital, Ohio Dominican, and Kenyon.
A native of Shelby, Ohio, Baird was a mainstay in the Big Red secondary for each of the last three seasons. The 2011 co-captain posted a career total of 129 tackles and three interceptions in 30 career contests. In a 2011 contest against Earlham, Baird recovered a fumble and returned it 35 yards for his first collegiate touchdown. Baird has achieved a 3.62 grade point average as an economics major and psychology minor.
