Longi repeats on Academic All-District team

For the second consecutive season, Denison's Alex Longi has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  As a first-team Academic All-District selection, Longi will move on to the national ballot for the Capital One Academic All-America® squad.

A four-year starter majoring in mathematics and economics, Longi boasts a 3.98 grade average.  This season he is averaging a career-high 15.0 ppg and 6.6 rpg while starting all 18 contests.  He has scored in double figures 14 times, while totaling a career-high 26 points against then No. 13 Wittenberg.

Longi is a two-time recipient of the Ted Barclay Top-Five Award at Denison's annual James T. Glerum Top-50 Student-Athlete Awards Banquet. The Ted Barclay Top-Five award is presented to the five student-athletes with the highest grade point average across all 23 varsity sports.  Longi was also named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Academic Honors Court in 2013.

It recognizes over 800 outstanding student-athletes annually in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
