GRANVILLE, Ohio – DePauw's David Vogel scored 22 of his game-high 25 points in the second half as the Tigers defeated the Big Red, 83-70, on Wednesday night at Livingston Gymnasium.

Led by a 65-percent shooting performance for the night, DePauw held a 15-8 lead with 10:55 to play before halftime. Denison's Matt Doyle connected on a jumper at the 9:21 mark before forcing a Tiger turnover and turning it into three points on the other end to cut the Big Red deficit to 15-13 with 8:33 remaining in the first half.

DePauw countered with a 22-9 scoring run that saw six different Tigers finish with tallies on the box score, led by eight points from Andrew Kus. Senior Garrett Collier finished the half with two points at the rim, but the Tigers entered intermission with the lead, 37-22.

The second half opened with a bang from the Big Red as Jack Coulter and Maxwell Siwik buried back-to-back three-pointers to bring the DePauw advantage back down to single digits, 39-30. The following 7:10 of play belonged to the Tigers as they forced five Denison turnovers and Vogel connected on DePauw's next five perimeter buckets to jump out to a 62-43 lead.

Consecutive layups from Collier allowed the Big Red to bring the deficit back within 10 points, 80-70, with less than two minutes to play. The Tigers missed five of their last seven free throw attempts, but the Big Red was unable to connect for the remainder of the game as they fall to 4-3 in for North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Vogel added six rebounds to his 25-point performance, while Josh Hall totaled 14 points and Jack VanderMerkt contributed 16 points and six rebounds off the bench. The Big Red were paced by 20 points from Doyle and 17 from Siwik. Coulter and Collier chipped in 11 points each.

The Big Red will hit the road this Saturday, Jan. 13 when they travel to Crawfordsville, Indiana to take on Wabash College at 3 p.m.
