SPRINGFIELD, Ohio--  Third-ranked Wittenberg got 25 points from Chad Roy to improve to 19-0 on the season after an 84-61 victory over the Denison Big Red.

The Tigers entered the game as one of two undefeated teams in the country but Denison was testing their mettle early on.  DU knocked down seven 3-pointers in the first half and Matt Gerics' trey with 5:59 left in the first gave the Big Red a 27-26 lead.  Wittenberg responded with a 12-2 run to close out the first half with a 38-30 lead.

Denison shot 44 percent from the field in the first half and was 7-for-11 from 3-point range, but Wittenberg's late run and Roy's 16 points set the tone for the second half.

In the first five minutes of the second half, Wittenberg asserted themselves, outscoring Denison 11-4 to take a 15-point lead.  The Tigers warmed up from the outside in the second half, connecting on 7-of-11 from 3-point range.  They also crashed the boards, pulling down seven offensive rebounds resulting in 13 second-chance points in the game.  Rebounding was decisively in the favor of the home team (38-22) as were points in the paint (34-16).

Roy was 10-for-16 from the field and 5-of-7 from the free throw line for his 25 points.  Connor Seipel added 13 points and 11 rebounds in 27 minutes.  Mitch Balser chipped in 12 for the Tigers.

For Denison (10-9, 6-6 NCAC), Maxwell Siwik led the team in scoring with 15 points off 6-of-12 shooting.  Garrett Collier finished with 13 points, six assists and three rebounds.  Matt Doyle and Gerics both finished with nine points and Conor Fenton led the team with five rebounds.

Denison returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 31 when they host Ohio Wesleyan at 8 p.m.
