The Denison University men's golf team took seventh at the North Coast Athletic Conference Fall Invitational held at Delaware Golf Club on Sunday. The event was the first of four in the 2009-10 NCAC Golf Championship Series.
The Big Red was led by rookie Sam Kaiser (Zionsville, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit Prepatory) who carded a 167 (82-85), and freshman Connor Monaghan (Garden City, N.Y./The Peddie School) who fired a pair of 84's en route to a 168 for the tournament.
Kaiser and Monaghan were followed by sophomore Rob Colmery (Nellysford, Va./St. Anne's Belfield School) and junior Henry Robb (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends School). Colmery turned in a 169 (86-83), while Robb's second-round 87 led to a 178 for the tournament.
Wittenberg took home the team title with a team score of 595 (291-304). The Tigers' Ricky Boerner and OWU's Tom Harman shared medalist honors after each golfer shot a 146.
Denison returns to the links on Tuesday (Sept. 15) at the Ohio Wesleyan Fall Invitational at Oakhaven Golf Course. The next event in the NCAC Championship Series will take place Sept. 26-27 at the Hiram Fall Invite at Hawk's Nest Golf Club.
