Men's golf sits fourth at Strimer Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio--  After the first round of the Strimer Memorial Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Oakhaven Golf Club, Denison sits in fourth place after a 316 to open the tournament.

Wittenberg leads the tournament at the midway point after a three-over-par 287.  Ohio Wesleyan is second at 296 followed by Kenyon (299), Denison (316), Bluffton (360) and Hiram (379).

Denison was led by Knox Montgomery who carded a four-over-par round of 75 which placed him in a tie for 12th on the leaderboard.  David Winkler was one stroke behind with a 76 which has him in a tie for 14th place.

Connor Holleran fired an 82 and Nick Brodbeck posted an 83 for Denison's top-four scores.  Daniel Hirsh checked in with DU's fifth score at 85.

The low round of the day was fired by Wittenberg's Ryan Mallette and Kenyon's Ryan Muthiora who posted one-under-par rounds of 70.

Round two will begin on Sunday morning at Oakhaven beginning at 7:45 a.m.
