After a month-long lull in competition, the Big Red men's swimmers and divers returned to the pool and made quick work of North Coast Athletic Conference foe, Wittenberg on Friday night in Springfield, Ohio.
Denison prevailed 201-90 and won 13 events while improving to 4-3 on the season. DU was led by senior Mike Barczak who captured three event titles. Barczak won the 50 free, the 50 butterfly and led-off the winning 200 medley relay along with Ben Snader, Robert Barry and Quinn Bartlett. Barczak touched in 21.60 to win the 50 free and the relay team posted a time of 1:36.50 to take the event.
First-year Damon Rosenburg swept both breaststroke events with a time of 1:00.71 in the 100 breast and 27.87 in the 50 breaststroke. Barry was also a three-time winner as a part of the aforementioned relay in addition to the 100 backstroke (51.40) and the 50 freestyle (24.20).
In the men's 3-meter dive Denison's Connor Dorff and Connor Dignan battled for the win. Dorff would prevail by 13 points with a score of 296.05. The 1-meter dive would go to Gabe Dixson who posted an outstanding score of 317.60.
Sophomore Al Weik cruised to a win in the 1,000 free with his time of 9:25.91 and Carlos Maciel followed with a 1:45.62 to win the 200 freestyle. Spencer Fronk took the 100 free in 46.17 while Dan Hellman rounded out the list of winners with a time of 53.57 in the 100 butterfly.
Denison returns to action on Jan. 21 when they host Grove City College at 1 p.m. in Gregory Pool.
