Salukombo places 10th at NCAA Championship
Dee Salukombo was 10th in the mile at the NCAA D-III Championship.

Denison junior Dee Salukombo placed 10th in the men's mile at the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships from Capital University in Bexley, Ohio.

Salukombo, who placed eighth a year ago, just missed All-America status as defending national champion Nick Guarino of SUNY-Fredonia won the race for the second-straight year with a time of 4:14.23.

Salukombo started off the race strong and led the field for the first 500 meters.  It was just the opposite for Guarino who patiently sat at the back of the pack until the final 1000 meters.  By the final 400 meters Guarino was in a full sprint and he pulled away from the pack to win.

Salukombo crossed the finish line in 4:22.29.  Second-place went to Calvin College's Greg Whittle in 4:15.06.
