Salukombo's 120-mile run featured in Cleveland Plain Dealer
Denison junior Dee Salukombo completed his 120-mile run from Granville to his home in Lakewood, Ohio on Wednesday night. Salukombo embarked on his journey Monday morning and he left with no money, water, food or a cell phone. His intentions were to rely entirely on the kindness of strangers along the way. He was also out to raise money for the school in his former home in Kirotshe, Congo.
Dee's journey to Ohio, and eventually Denison University has not been an easy one. Thanks to today's story in the Cleveland Plain Dealer, northeast Ohio and beyond are waking up to a tale that exemplifies hope, faith and the power of the human spirit.
