Big Red places 18th at Oberlin

Oberlin, Ohio – Denison men's cross country secured an 18th place finish on Saturday afternoon at Oberlin College's Inter-Regional Rumble 8k race.

In an event that totaled 31 teams, the Big Red were led by sophomore Benjamin Foster who finished 15th out of 265 competitors with a time of 25:52.2. Jack Marchetti and Clayton Watters finished in the top-100 for DU as Marchetti's time of 26:58 landed him in 69th place and Watters checked in with a 27:21.2, good for 98th place.

Sophomore Kenny Connelly (157th place) and freshman Adam Cromwell (181st place) rounded out the scoring for Denison as Connelly's 28:13.1 was just 37 seconds better than Cromwell's 28:50.1.

Rhys Fitschen-Brown, Zach Munn and Henri Hegemier completed the Big Red lineup as Fitschen-Brown clocked in at 29:09.0, and Munn finished in 29:32.1. Hegemier closed out the day with a time of 33:02.8.

DePauw University ended the race at the top of the leaderboard with a team score of 83. John Carroll followed in second place (106) while Mount Union (125), Allegheny (153), and Trine (199) rounded out the top-five. Allegheny's Matt Svetz won the race with a time of 25:09.0.

Denison will return to Oberlin, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 28th for the 2017 North Coast Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship.
