Sophomore pitcher Kelsey Hager was North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week after tossing her first-career no hitter against Dubuque.
Hager's no hitter came in Denison's 7-0 season-opening win over Dubuque at the Tucson Invitational Games in Tucson, Ariz. The sophomore hurler struck out eight while walking just two en route to the complete-game shutout victory. Hager carried a perfect game into the sixth inning before issuing a walk to pinch hitter Christina Guy.
The win over Dubuque marked the third-straight season-opening shutout win for the Big Red. In 2010, Samantha Rumschlag scattered three hits and fanned four batters in a 3-0 win over No. 20 Central (Iowa). Last season, Becca Dyer gave up two hits and struck out five in a five-inning victory over Dickinson (8-0).
Denison (3-1) returns to the diamond on Tuesday when they take on Nazareth (3:30 p.m. MST) and Edgewood (6 p.m. MST) in Tucson, Ariz.
