Denison senior centerfielder Hannah Price was named North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week after helping DU secure a spot in this weekend's NCAC Tournament.
Price logged 11 hits last week, but none bigger than the walk-off single in game two against Hiram that clinched Denison's berth in the NCAC Tournament. With two outs and runners at second and third, Price timed up the 1-0 delivery from Amethyst Brigham and sent a shot into left center that scored Emily Lipsitz and cleared the Denison bench. The base hit by Price assured Denison the fourth and final spot in next weekend's NCAC Tournament.
In six starts last week, Price posted four multiple-hit performances, including a 3-for-4 outing in the opener against Hiram. The senior also went 4-for-6 with three doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored in a twinbill sweep of Kenyon. She also logged three hits, scored twice and drove in another in a doubleheader sweep at Defiance.
Price leads the team in batting average (.366), runs scored (28), hits (48), RBIs (23), total bases (66), slugging percentage (.504) and on-base percentage (.421).
The Big Red will take on top-seeded Allegheny on Friday (May 4) at 12 p.m. in the second game of the tournament. Second-seeded Wooster and third-seeded DePauw will clash in the opener at 10 a.m.
