Brynn FitzGerald finished second at the NCAC's opening Championship Series Event.
Brynn FitzGerald finished second at the NCAC's opening Championship Series Event.

Brynn FitzGerald tied for second, individually. Her 36-hole total of 157 helped lead her Denison squad to a third-place finish at Event No. 1 of the 2014 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Series from Danville, Ind.

After an opening round 76 by FitzGerald, the sophomore returned with an 81 on Sunday to finish five strokes behind individual medalist, Paige Gooch from DePauw.  Thanks to her second-place finish, FitzGerald was named to the All-Tournament team as one of the top-five individuals at the tournament.

Denison's top score on Sunday came from first-year Annie Miller who carded an 80 after her opening round 84.  She finished tied for ninth as an individual.

Stacey Adams improved her first round score by two strokes after an 83 on Sunday, and Tina Berardi rounded out the scoring by trimming four strokes off her Saturday score, by shooting 86.

Denison's team total of 665 had them solidly in third place, finishing 27 strokes in front of fourth place Allegheny.  The team championship went to DePauw who ended with a 36-hole total of 641.  Wittenberg was second at 644.

The Big Red will close out their season next Saturday at the final 36-hole NCAC Championship Series event that is scheduled to be played at Crawfordsville Country Club in Crawfordsville, Ind.
