DU to raise money for Oligo Nation
This Saturday the Big Red women's lacrosse team will not only honor their lone senior member, they will also play to help someone who has never even suited up for a game.
In 2008, Denison University senior Spencer Greene was diagnosed with Oligodendroglioma (Oligo), a rare type of brain tumor. Every year, more than 250,000 people are diagnosed with brain tumors. In July of 2011, the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) launched the Oligo Research Fund. Oligo Nation and NBTS work closely to build support for Oligo research and all fundraising efforts of Oligo Nation have been directed into this fund.
On Saturday, the Big Red women's lacrosse team will raise money for Oligo Nation through various raffles, donations and t-shirt sales at their 1 p.m. game against Ohio Wesleyan. Additionally, Greene will be in attendance at Saturday's game and will give a speech to the fans at halftime.
