Senior goalkeeper Andrea Karl was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VII team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Karl is a two-time Capital One Academic All-America selection earning third-team honors in 2011 and first-team laurels in 2012. She will move on to the national ballot as a candidate for the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America squad.
A four-year starter in goal, Karl has started all 78 matches and boasts a career 0.89 goals-against average with 269 saves and 29 shutouts. This season, the two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection has made 63 saves and currently carries a 1.03 goals-against average in 1,583 minutes of play.
A biochemistry major with a minor in economics, Karl boasts the top GPA among all Denison student-athletes across 23 varsity sports. She is a two-time honoree at the Denison Athletics Top-50 banquet, and a two-time recipient of the Ted Barclay Top-Five award which is presented annually to five Denison student-athletes with the highest grade-point averages across DU's 23 varsity sports.

It recognizes over 800 outstanding student-athletes annually in Division I, II, III and NAIA covering all NCAA championship sports.
