CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Denison sophomores Lauren Hawley and Emma Alsup closed out the season at the 2017 NCAA Individual Championship Tournament on Thursday at The Champions Tennis Club.

Hawley opened the morning against arguably the nation's best No. 2 singles player, Victoria Yu of Wesleyan (Conn.). Yu was victorious in straight sets via 6-0, 6-1 scores to secure a spot in the round of 16. Things didn't get much easier for Hawley and Alsup as they faced off against the third-seeded team of Bridget Harding and Katarina Su from Emory. Just one day removed from dropping a 5-4 decision to Williams in the team championship match, the Emory tandem posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over the Big Red's top doubles team.

Hawley finished the year with a 19-10 singles record, while the pairing of Hawley and Alsup closed out the season with a 21-9 mark.
