After a solid performance at Saturday's Denison annual Lid-Lifter, the Big Red track and field team had three athletes earn North Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors. Senior Tiffany Davis (Sprinter) and sophomore Aedin Brennan (Field) garnered recognition on the women's side, while sophomore Wallace Branche was named the men's field athlete of the week.
Davis and Brennan combined for five of DU's seven event titles, helping the home team pick up a 12-point victory on Saturday. Davis captured both the 60 and 200-meter dash titles with times of 8.07 and 26.08, respectively. Brennan was also a double winner, picking up victories in both the long and triple jumps. Brennan won the long jump with a leap of 16-07.25, while her distance of 35-04.50 beat out the rest of the field in the triple jump. The duo also teamed with sophomore Kiki Yewer and sophomore Olivia Ireland to win the 4x200 relay. The foursome completed the race in 1:49.33.
On the men's side, Branche collected the Big Red's lone individual title to help Denison finish second in the four-team field. The sophomore won the triple jump after recording a distance of 44'10.25" in his second jump of the afternoon. Branche's leap bested second-place Matthew Quinn of Otterbein by almost three feet. In addition to his win, Branche also took second in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.13.
The Big Red returns to action next Saturday when they travel to Wooster, Ohio for the Fighting Scots Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
