Denison sophomore springer Kiki Yewer was named North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Sprinter of the Week after her performance at the Carnegie Mellon Mini-Invitational last Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Yewer was part of two of the Big Red's seven event titles. The sophomore ran the opening leg of the 4x100-meter relay that broke the tape in a meet-record time of 50.04. Individually, Yewer also had a meet-record performance in the 100 dash. Her time of 13.08 not only surpassed the previous top-time at the event, it also landed her in ninth place on the Denison top performers list.
As a team, Denison collected 122 points en route to a third-place finish. The Big Red returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for the annual Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., while the running events are slated to start at 3 p.m.
