DU track & field competes at All-Ohio meet

The Denison track and field squads took part in the 2017 Division III All-Ohio Championship held at Otterbein University on Saturday. The women finished in 10th place with 21 points, while the men took 14th with seven tallies.

On the women's side, junior Hannah Hall reset her own school record after successfully clearing 5'6.50" in the high jump en route to a second-place showing. Hall's mark was a 1.25" improvement on her previous school record. Sophomore Anna Fash also posted a top-5 finish, taking fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 18:41.20. Her time moved her into ninth on the program's top performer's list. Senior Anne Lee rounded out the scoring for the Big Red women on Saturday with a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a combined leap of 34'4".

In men's action, sophomore David Carter took third in the men's triple jump with a mark of 44'0.75". The foursome of Ben Foster, John Ruddy, Zach Munn and Clayton Watters combined for an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay with a time of 10:57.10. Sophomore Niall Clancey was ninth in the mile after checking in at 4:32.32, while the grouping of Alex Chin, Isaac Andrews, Ruddy and Ben Gibbs finished ninth in the 4x200 relay (1:36.95).

Mount Union won both team titles while the host Cardinals took second on each side.

Denison will be back in action next Saturday (Feb. 18) when they travel to Gambier, Ohio for the Kenyon College Classic. Events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
