CLEVELAND, Ohio – Junior Kenny Fox and sophomore Allison Fitzgerald were honored as the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athletes of the Week following their winning efforts against Ohio Wesleyan University last Saturday in Granville. Fox has been named the NCAC Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, while Fitzgerald's honor is her first of the season and second of her career.
Leading the way for the Denison men in a 158-106 triumph over the Bishops, Fox joined PJ Desmet, Brandt Swanson and Nick Froemming to open the dual meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 1:33.98. The Juneau, Alaska native then added a victory for DU in the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 21.49.
On the women's side, Fitzgerald powered the Big Red as she broke her previous varsity and Trumbull Aquatics Center record in the one-meter dive, posting an 11-dive regional-qualifying score of 499.73 for the win. She followed that performance up with another regional-qualifying score in the three-meter dive, winning the event with a 484.28.
Denison's men's team currently ranks No.1 nationally in the latest TYR/CSCAA Top 25 Division III polls, while the women's team comes in at No. 3 in the country. Both sides will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 17 when they host the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The four-day event will start on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m.
