CLEVELAND, Ohio – The North Coast Athletic Conference honored four Denison track and field athletes on Monday afternoon, naming junior David Carter and senior Arlesha Cospy as their Field Athletes of the Week, and junior Anna Fash and sophomore Clayton Watters as the Men's and Women's Distance Runners of the Week.
In the field events, Carter earned his second NCAC honor of the season, and fifth of his career, when he garnered two victories at the Washington & Lee Carnival in Lexington, Va. this past Friday through Saturday, March 16-17. In the long jump on Friday afternoon, Carter placed first with a jump of 21'6" (6.55 meters) and finished in first again on Saturday in the triple jump with a leap of 46'5.50" (14.16 meters).
Cospy also posted a pair of victories at W&L, winning the discus with a maximum throw of 140'3" (42.74 meters), and then placing first in the shot put with a distance of 38'2.25" (11.64 meters). This marks Cospy's first conference honor of the season and fourth of her career.
On the track, Fash tallied a new personal best and second place finish in the 10,000-meter run, clocking in at 38:21.78, while Watters also posted a PR in the men's 10,000-meter run, finishing in ninth with a time of 33:26.07.
The Big Red will return to action on March 30 when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to compete in the two-day Carnegie Mellon Quad Meet.
