NEW ORLEANS, La. – For the third consecutive outdoor season, Denison's track and field trio of Arlesha Cospy, Hannah Hall, and David Carter were named to the All-Great Lakes Region team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Each of these three athletes has made the all-region squad in every season since its inception in 2016.
Following a North Coast Athletic Conference Championship in the triple jump during the indoor season, Carter took the conference title in the outdoor season for the second-straight year on a first-place jump of 46'7.25" (14.20 meters). The junior has now combined to win four conference championships in the triple jump event. He also finished the 2018 outdoor season with six, top-five finishes in the event.
For Cospy and Hall, who recently qualified for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships in La Crosse, Wis. (May 24-26), their all-region selections have added to the impressive resumes that the seniors have built during their time at Denison.
A three-time national qualifier in the discus event, Cospy has earned her spot on the national stage once again following an outdoor campaign that featured seven, top-three finishes, including four, first-place titles. Her season-best in the discus came at the 2018 Big Red Invitational (April 27) when she reached a distance of 153'6" (46.80 meters).
Competing at her fourth-straight national meet, Hall earned all-region honors after she placed in the top-five in the high jump on seven separate occasions during the outdoor season. She reached her best mark of the season on May 11, 2018, at Baldwin Wallace's Harrison Dillard Twilight when she placed fourth overall and posted a jump of 5'5.25" (1.66 meters).
The national competition will begin on Thursday, May 24 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse's Roger Harring Stadium when Cospy competes in the discus event at 1:30 p.m. Hall will follow in the high jump on Friday, May 25 at 2 p.m.
