GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison's KT Kustritz and Matt Hedman were named the North Coast Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week after leading the Big Red to strong showings at the Akron Zips Classic on Oct. 12-13.
Kustritz is the defending national champion in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the Division III national record holder in the 100 breast. She opened the 2018-19 season with a pair of NCAA 'B' cuts against a field of Division I competition. Kustritz finished second in the 100 breast in 1:02.80 and was sixth in the 200 breast. She was also part of a fourth-place 400 medley relay with Casey Kirby, Maddie Hopkins and Mia Chiappe who touched in 3:50.61 for a 'B' cut. This is the sixth NCAC Swimmer of the Week award for Kustritz.
Hedman was named the NCAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time in his career after he logged three NCAA 'B' cut swims at Akron. He finished first in the 400 IM (3:59.21) and the 1,650 Free (15:33.96) and was second in the 500 free (4:31.58). Hedman is the defending NCAC Swimmer of the Year and is a six-time All-American. He was the national runner-up in the 500 and 1,650 freestyles at last year's NCAA Division III Championship.
