NEW ORLEANS -- Denison cross country was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday afternoon with multiple Division III All-Academic awards, including the men's and women's programs as All-Academic teams and sophomore Adam Cromwell earning individual honors.
Named an All-North Coast Athletic Conference honorable mention selection in 2018, Cromwell makes his first appearance on the All-Academic squad after posting a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and finishing in the top 25 percent of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional meet with a 56th place finish at 26:21.8.
Making great strides as a sophomore, Cromwell placed 15th overall at the 2018 NCAC Championship with a final time of 26:50 and 73rd at the All-Ohio Championship in 25:47.4. A native of Fort London, Pa., Cromwell is double majoring in international studies and Spanish.
For the team recognition, the Big Red men's and women's cross country programs were among 393 teams to be honored by the USTFCCCA that have competed at an NCAA Regional meet and have compiled team grade-point averages of 3.10.
Led by five, top 10 team finishes in 2018, the Denison men posted a team GPA of 3.13, while the women tallied a 3.43 GPA and record three finishes in the top 10.
