The 2019 Denison University men's and women's cross country schedule has been announced with the Big Red opening their season on Friday, August 30 as they travel to nearby Gambier, Ohio for a tri-meet hosted at Kenyon College. The season will continue on Sept. 5 when they host the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet before a trip to the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational the following weekend (Sept. 14).
The Big Red will return to Cedarville University in 2019 for the All-Ohio Championship on Sept. 28, and will also take part in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational (Oct. 12) and Inter-Regional Border Battle at Rowan University (Oct. 19) before they compete for the NCAC Championship on November 2 in Carmel, Ind.
Following a sixth-place finish at the conference championships in 2018, the men's team returns All-NCAC honorable mention selection in junior Adam Cromwell who placed 15th overall at last year's North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. Seniors Ben Foster & Rhys Fitschen-Brown will also help anchor the men's squad in 2019, with Foster returning to the team after a 2017 campaign where he was named All-NCAC second-team following a 10th place finish at the conference meet.
On the women's side, the Big Red are led by super sophomores in Emily Willson and Meagan Balch who each landed All-NCAC honorable mention selections in 2018. The pair finished 20th and 21st at the conference championship while senior Erin O'Connor will also return to the fold following a 29th place finish at the NCAC meet last season.
Head coach Mark FitzPatrick enters his fifth season at the helm of the men's and women's cross country programs where he has helped produce 11 all-conference honorees during that time.
