Denison T&F athletes perform well in the classroom

Kosanovich and Brennan

Denison track & field athletes Chad Kosanovich and Aedin Brennan were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last week.  The pair each was named to their respective All-Academic teams.  In addition, the Denison women’s track & field squad earned All-Academic team honors.

To receive All-Academic honors a student-athlete must compile a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and have met either of the following athletic standards: must have competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship or finished the regular season ranked in the national top-35 in an individual event.  The individual could also qualify by ranking in the national top25 in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list.

Kosanovich, who hails from Sewickley, Pa., also earned Capital One Academic All-District honors in June, received his bachelor of science in biochemistry from Denison in May.  He was a three-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference selection and was a top-20 finisher at this year’s NCAC Cross Country Championship.

Meanwhile, Brennan completed a stellar first-year at Denison which saw her become an All-American in the heptathlon at the 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship.  Brennan was named the NCAC Field Athlete of the Year while posting 12 all-conference finishes and six conference championships across the indoor and outdoor seasons.  Brennan, a native of Fairport, N.Y. is majoring in biology with a minor in Spanish.
