Dave Haverstick came to DU from Father Judge High School in Philadelphia. An economics major, he lettered four times in football (1978-81) and once in baseball (1979). He was named the football team’s most efficient offensive lineman following the 1980 and ’81 seasons. Haverstick was elected as the football team’s captain and honored as Denison’s Most Valuable Player as a senior. In 1981, he was named Most Valuable Lineman in the Ohio Shrine Bowl. Haverstick started every game during his collegiate football career between 1978 and ’81. In 1980 and ’81, he earned first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors as an offensive guard. While at Denison, Haverstick was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity.
