CLEVELAND, Ohio – Denison baseball received recognition from the North Coast Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon as they named senior Tanner Johnson their Player of the Week and fellow senior Perley Provost as their Pitcher of the Week.
At the plate, Johnson earned his second-career NCAC weekly honor after helping the Big Red go 3-0 over No. 25 Baldwin Wallace and Allegheny College while batting .545 with four stolen bases and six RBI's on the week. In the 13-7 win over BW, Johnson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five runs batted in. He also tallied three runs scored and three stolen bases in the doubleheader sweep of Allegheny College on Sunday evening in Butler, Pa.
On the hill, Provost stayed undefeated on the season as he matched a career-high 10 strikeouts over 8.1 innings pitched in a 7-0 victory against Allegheny. The win moved Provost to 4-0 on the year and his 10 K's matched a career-high that he set on April 1, 2017, in a complete-game shutout of Wabash College. This is Provost's third NCAC Pitcher of the Week award of his career.
Currently sitting at 14-6 on the season, Denison will return to action on Thursday, April 12 at 6 p.m. when they host Muskingum University at Big Red Field.
