CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Tanner Johnson was named the Player of the Week by the North Coast Athletic Conference following a pair of conference sweeps over Oberlin and Wabash to end the regular season. This mark's Johnson's second Player of the Week honor this season, and the third of his career.
Headlined by a 5-0 record in the final week of the season, Johnson led the Big Red offensively by hitting .579 with 13 runs scored and three triples. Johnson's best performance came in a 16-1 win at Wabash on Saturday, May 5 when he posted a 4-for-5 performance with four runs scored, 2 RBIs and a stolen base. He also finished the doubleheader sweep of Oberlin with four RBIs and six runs scored. On the season, Johnson leads the Big Red in 10 different offensive categories, including home runs (9), RBIs (50), and batting average (.404).
Johnson and the Big Red will take their 31-8 record into the NCAC Tournament this Thursday through Saturday, May 10-12, as the No. 2 seed. They will face No. 3 seed Wabash in the opening round on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
