ADRIAN, Mich--  Denison suffered a 2-1 loss to Heidelberg in Game No. 4 of the NCAA Division III Regional at Nicolay Field on Saturday.  With the loss, the Big Red have a short turnaround and face Adrian College in an elimination game beginning at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Heidelberg turned to left-hander Trevor Adkins and the junior was phenomenal, allowing seven hits and one earned run in 7.0 IP.

Denison threatened in the seventh after a single by Vince Walker and a pinch-hit double by Daniel Spencer had runners on second and third with one out.  Adkins retired Cam Farren and Nick Pettigrew to work out of the jam.

In the eight, the Big Red scored its first run of the game on an RBI groundout by Will Krushena that scored Max Lahn.  With Grady Paine on third representing the tying run, Heidelberg reliever Brady Knizner got Brian McAuliffe to fly out to center to end the threat.

In the ninth, The Berg turned to closer Joey Wenning and he picked up his 10th save, sitting DU down in order.

Denison starter Taylor Perrett (5-2) took the loss. He allowed two runs in 5.0 IP.  Mikey Rivera pitched a third of an inning and Henry Haack finished the game with 3.2 innings of scoreless baseball.  Haack allowed only one hit and struck out two without a walk.

The Big Red drops to 39-8 while Heidelberg improves to 32-13.  Denison's next opponent, Adrian, eliminated La Roche in Game No. 3, 6-4 in extra innings.  The loss snaps the Big Red's impressive winning streak versus Ohio Athletic Conference opponents at 25, dating back to the 2016 season.
