The 2019 Denison University football schedule has been released and the Big Red will open the season against the Ohio Northern University Polar bears on Saturday, September 7 at 7 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 1983 when the Big Red were members of the Ohio Athletic Conference. Denison holds a 12-4-4 lead in all-time series with Ohio Northern. The season continues with marquee matchups against perennial North Coast Athletic Conference contenders in Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana September 28, and Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio on October 26.  On Saturday, November 2, DU will host DePauw University before traveling to Ohio Wesleyan on Nov. 9 and wrapping up the regular season at home against Kenyon on Nov. 16.

The Big Red is coming off its first NCAC Championship since 1986, as well as its first NCAA playoff appearance since 1985. Denison returns three first-team All-NCAC selections in senior offensive lineman Frank Zoltan, senior defensive end Nate Keirn, and senior running back Alex Minton. Senior offensive lineman Andrew Zellers, senior punter Calvin Montgomery, and junior cornerback Michael Flanagan also received All-NCAC honors.

Head coach Jack Hatem returns for his 10th season leading the Denison squad. Over the last nine seasons, he boasts a winning percentage of .615 and over the last four seasons he has led DU to a 30-11 record.
