The Matchup:  Denison and Allegheny will clash on Saturday, Oct. 5, at Frank B. Furhrer Field in Meadville, Pennsylvania at 6 p.m.  This is the 33rd meeting between the Big Red and the Gators.  Allegheny leads the all-time series, 22-10 but Denison has controlled the series recently, winning the last five games by a combined score of 248-89.  Denison enters with a 2-1 record and the Gators are 0-3.

How to Watch:  Allegheny College and Gators TV will provide a live video stream of the game beginning at 6 p.m.

Scouting the Big Red:  Denison is coming off a 34-20 loss to Wabash last Saturday in Crawfordsville, Indiana.  With Denison trailing at 27-20 in the fourth quarter the Big Red were driving with under three minutes to play until Drew Dawkins' pass was intercepted by Wabash's Patrick Kelly at the 18-yard line.  Three plays later, Isaac Avant put the game away with a 64-yard touchdown run.

Scouting the Gators:  Allegheny is off to an 0-3 start after losses to RPI (52-14), Wabash (48-35) and Ohio Wesleyan (28-10).  The Gators are in their first season under the direction of head coach Rich Nagy.  Most recently, Nagy was the defensive coordinator at Old Dominion.  He also has previous ties to Allegheny, serving as an assistant coach for the Gators from 1993-97.

History-Making:  Denison has put up some major offensive numbers in recent years against Allegheny.  In 2017, Canaan Gebele passed for a career-high 407 yards and three touchdowns helping three receivers post 100-yard days.  In 2014, Dushawn Brown set new single-game records with 15 receptions for 339 yards and four touchdowns.  Brandon Sklenar passed for 406 yards and five TD's that afternoon.

Climbing the ladder:  Alex Minton has rushed for 408 yards in three games this season and ranks 10th in Division III with 136.0 rushing yards per game.  He needs only 223 yards to reach 3,000 yards rushing for his career.  Only four running backs from Denison have rushed for over 3,000 yards in their careers.  Marv Smith '58 (3,224), Clay Sampson (3,726), Ed Exler (3,953) and Chris Spriggs (4,248).

Another Mr. 3000:  Allegheny wide receiver Alex Victor needs only 101 yards to reach 3,000 receiving yards for his career.  He set the program record for receptions last weekend against Ohio Wesleyan.

Money Down:  Denison leads the NCAC in third down conversion percentage at 59 percent.  That also ranks them fourth in the nation.

Denison Day:  Three Denison varsity teams will be competing in Meadville on Saturday. At noon the Big Red men's and women's soccer teams will be taking on the Gators at two different venues, followed by the football game at 6 p.m.

Looking ahead:  Denison's next opponent will be Oberlin College on Saturday, Oct. 12 in Granville at 3 p.m.  The Gators travel to Springfield, Ohio for a noon kickoff against Wittenberg.
