CLEVELAND, Ohio – Denison sophomore goalie Teya Adams was honored by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Tuesday as this week's NCAC Player of the Week following the 2-1 shootout victory over Centre College this past Saturday in Granville.
Led by three saves on four Centre attempts during the shootout, Adams turned in an impressive season-opening performance with an additional five saves over 90 minutes of regulation and overtime play. The Big Red carried a 3-1 advantage during the shootout after Caroline Little buried Denison's fourth attempt. On Centre's last hope to stay alive, Adams saved a shot from Olivia Carter to end the game.
Adams' five saves against Centre are the second most for her career behind her eight-save performance against the Colonels last season (Sept. 3).
The Big Red will open NCAC play on Wednesday, September 5 when they travel to DePauw University for a 6 p.m. start.
