GRANVILLE, Ohio – Thanks to a multi-goal effort from freshman Maya Tumiwa and holding the Yeowomen to zero shots on the day, Denison field hockey improved to 10-0 in NCAC play on Saturday afternoon following a 5-0 victory over Oberlin College at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

Outshooting the Yeowomen 32-0 for the match and winning the penalty corner battle 12-0, Denison wasted no time in finding their offense when Abby Scully took a breakaway one-on-one with Oberlin's goalie Kennedy Kline in the second minute of play and sent it in the cage for her fourth goal of the season and to give DU an early 1-0 advantage.

Over the next 16:03 in the first half, Denison was unable to connect on their next seven shots until Tumiwa went coast-to-coast past the Oberlin defense and put the Big Red up 2-0 at 17:58.

With less than 10 minutes remaining in the half, senior Lucy Pearsall tallied her team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 25:55 mark when she stepped inside the shooting circle and connected on a strike past the goalie for a 3-0 DU lead entering intermission.

Following 17 shots in the first half, the Big Red recorded 15 shots in the final half of play. On DU's seventh shot of the half, Charlotte Happel sent a shot off a penalty corner and Tumiwa tipped it into the cage for her second goal of the day and to increase Denison's lead to 4-0.

In the 68th minute of action, Denison tallied their final goal of the afternoon when AC Veith centered the ball to E Bistrian who finished it for her first collegiate goal and to send the Big Red to 12-2 overall.

Tumiwa led the way for DU with a match-high seven shots, five shots on goal, and two goals. Pearsall trailed with six shots and a goal, while Charlotte Godfrey followed with five shots. This was the second time this season that the Big Red held their opponent to zero shots, last accomplished on September 26 at Wittenberg when they outshot the Tigers 16-0.

The win sends Denison's record with Oberlin to 58-17 all-time, which includes 20-straight victories dating back to 2009.

DU continues their four-match homestand on Tuesday, October 16 when they host Wittenberg at 4:30 p.m.
