GRANVILLE, Ohio – Thanks to a pair of goals from Charlotte Godfrey and Abby Scully, Denison field hockey earned their fifth win of the season on Saturday morning as they posted a 6-0 shutout of Oberlin College at Piper Stadium in Granville.

Outshooting the Yeowomen 28-0 and winning all penalty corners by an 11-0 ratio, the Big Red opened the scoring at 5:52 when senior Charlotte Happel looped a pass near the cage and Godfrey knocked it in from the top for her fourth goal of the season as Denison took an early 1-0 lead. Three minutes later, Scully capitalized on her first goal of 2019 on a shot from the left side of the shooting circle that built DU's lead to 2-0.

With 8:55 remaining in the first half, Denison continued their offensive attack when sophomore AC Veith fired a shot in the back of the cage to give Denison a 3-0 advantage at the break.

Less than five minutes into the second half, freshman Meg Baylis joined the scoring party when she took a saved shot from Godfrey and landed it past Oberlin's goalie Mary Post for her first collegiate goal to put the Big Red ahead 4-0.

Leading 5-0 entering the fourth quarter, Godfrey tallied her second goal of the game off a loose ball in front of the cage to give Denison the 6-0 victory and move to 5-1 overall. Oberlin dropped to 2-4 on the season.

Godfrey and Scully each tallied seven shots to go with their two goals while combining for seven shots on goal. Madeleine Hunt finished with four shots and Happell added three shots, including two on goal.

Denison's Teya Adams and Kerry Lawler played 30 minutes each in goal in the victory while Post ended the match with 10 saves in 60 minutes.

The Big Red return to Piper Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 22 when they host Rhodes College at 11 a.m.
