RICHMOND, Ind. – The Denison field hockey team secured their fourth-straight shutout following a 1-0 decision at Earlham on Wednesday. As a team, DU has gone 250-consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.

The Big Red broke through for the match's first, and only, goal when Abby Scully ripped a shot into the lower right corner in the 10th minute of play. Scully's fifth tally of the season came on Denison's first shot attempt.

Following the goal, the DU defense fended off six shot attempts over the next 45 minutes of play, including three that were turned aside by goalie Teya Adams.

The Quakers held a 9-5 edge in shots and doubled up the Big Red in corners, 8-4. Despite trailing in the shot category, Denison made the most of their attempts, putting all five shots on goal. Adams registered three saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season, while Earlham's Meg Murphy made four stops in the loss.

The Big Red improves to 11-3 on the year and 4-1 in NCAC play, while the Quakers fall to 9-7 and 3-2 in league action. Denison returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Greencastle, Ind. For a 12 p.m. match with DePauw.
