GRANVILLE, Ohio – Following a seven-game winning streak to end the regular season and their third-straight North Coast Athletic Conference title, Denison field hockey enters the 2019 NCAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed.

The Big Red will host fourth-seeded DePauw University on Wednesday (Nov. 6) at 3 p.m. at Piper Stadium in the tournament semifinal round. In the other semifinal, No. 2 Ohio Wesleyan will host No. 3 Kenyon at 3 p.m.

In Denison's first meeting of the season with DePauw, the Big Red posted a 2-1 victory over the Tigers in Greencastle. Sophomore Maya Tumiwa answered twice for DU, including a game-winner in the third period to earn their fifth-straight victory in conference play.

This marks the 11th consecutive NCAC Tournament appearance for the Big Red and the program's 15th overall. Looking to secure their third-straight conference tournament title, the Big Red are led by junior Charlotte Godfrey who currently leads Denison with 23 points on nine goals and five assists. Tumiwa and Abby Scully follow with six goals each, while Scully is currently tied for the NCAC-lead with seven assists.

Senior Ali Gakenheimer has anchored a Big Red defense that has recorded 11 shutouts in 2019 and has held the opposition to a shot percentage of .080. Junior goalie Teya Adams continues to lock down the DU cage with 45 saves on the season and a .849 save percentage, good for second-best in the NCAC.

Entering the tournament at 14-3 overall, the Big Red have continued their dominant stretch through the NCAC this season, moving to 33-3 in conference play over the last three seasons.

Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18 and under).  Students with a valid NCAC institution ID, as well as the first 50 members of the Denison faculty or staff, are admitted free of charge.  A live video stream will be provided by the Denison Sports Network beginning at 2:45 p.m.
