Hot shooting propels Wabash to win

Wabash shot 62 percent from the field and 71 percent from beyond the arc as they rolled to an 86-61 win over Denison on Senior Day at Livingston Gymnasium.

The Little Giants asserted themselves from the opening tip, taking a 9-0 lead in the first 3:25 of the game.  Wabash proceeded to push its lead to double digits and by the end of the first half, they found themselves down 22 at the break.

Wabash shot 65 percent in the first half while going 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.  The second half was more of the same as the Little Giants continued to shoot with confidence.  The 3-point percentage skyrocketed to 86 percent in the second half (6-of-7) resulting in the 25-point win.

Daniel Purvlicis scored 24 points and had 14 rebounds for Wabash.  Johnny Jager had 10 points and 13 assists.

Denison was led by David Meurer who scored 15 points in 21 minutes.  Jett Speelman finished with 11 points in 21 minutes.  He was saddled with foul trouble through much of the first half.

The Big Red will look to bounce back on Wednesday, Feb. 17 when they host Hiram College at 8 p.m.
